Senior Building Control Officer
Hours: 37 hours per week - occasional out of hours
Salary: (PO6-PO9) - £39,106 - £42,107 (including a £5,000 market forces supplement – non contractual)
Relocation package of up to £5,000 available

Rochford District Council is seeking to develop its Building Control service further, as the area is experiencing development growth and a high demand for its services.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Building Control and allied legislation, with considerable experience in Building Control, gained from a range of building regulation submission types mainly in the domestic market. You will be able to apply your detailed knowledge of legislation to practical situations and have a proven ability to manage and positively progress projects. Additionally, you will engage with customers, ensuring that complex or difficult matters are explained in a polite and professional way. You will have the drive, commitment and passion to win customers’ trust to ensure they return to use our services again. A track record in how to market the service and develop new business would also be desirable.
The Job Role
The post holder will be responsible for providing building control services within the district, as a member of a team within Rochford District Council. The main responsibilities of the post will be plan vetting, site inspections of building work, enforcement, dangerous structures and demolitions.
Good IT skills, accurate record keeping and effective communication skills are essential requirements. A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is also essential for business purposes, for which a mileage allowance will be paid .
To apply for this post you must have attained the standard of a relevant degree level /professional qualification and appropriate experience with any specialism training in the discipline being an advantage. Membership of the RICS, CABE or equivalent is desirable.
Starting salary will be determined by qualifications and experience.
Rochford District is an attractive area, with a mix of urban and rural spaces in a tight geographical area. Rochford is easily accessible with a main line station to London Liverpool Street (50 minutes) and London Southend Airport.
