Salary: £39,106 - £42,107 (including a £5,000 market supplement – non-contractual)

We are a proactive local planning authority in south east Essex, with a complete local development plan supporting and directing the future growth and prosperity of the district up to 2025. The review of our adopted policies is underway, and we are working towards delivering a sustainable and deliverable plan which meets the needs of our area over the next 20 years.
About the role
Depending on your experience, in this post you will be required to assist with or lead on the preparation of important planning policies at a range of scales, the development of evidence base documents and consultation reports, as well as participation at committee meetings, hearings and inquiries, as required. You will be required to positively and confidently engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including as part of formal consultations and in your day-to-day duties, and provide planning policy advice to Development Management colleagues.
It is essential that you hold a postgraduate qualification in planning to be considered for this role. We are looking for a dynamic, positive and hardworking individual, with knowledge and experience of planning policy, who is up-to-date with national planning policy, guidance and legislation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in taking forward a new local plan, and will be expected to work as a member of a small, but ambitious, planning team, which has an excellent record for delivering a high quality service. This is a permanent, full time post, which for the right candidate is a fantastic opportunity to assist with or lead on a number of key planning documents to shape the future of the district.
