Auditor £23,395 - £27,668

We are looking to recruit an individual, who is keen to develop innovative approaches to risk management and internal control across the wide range of services provided by the Council.

Although our preference is to recruit at the senior level, it’s more important that we appoint the right person. We are therefore opening this vacancy to applicants to apply at either Auditor or Senior Auditor level.

Whether you are an experienced professional or someone who is looking to develop a career in Internal Audit, your role will be varied with exposure to audit issues and developments operating at all levels. At both levels the role involves working on a variety of projects under the direction of a Principal Auditor. Your grade will reflect your skills, professional qualifications and experience.

Applicants applying at Auditor level will be AAT qualified and/or working towards a relevant professional qualification (CCAB, IIA). You will know the basics of internal auditing, be outgoing, self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a positive approach and willingness to contribute towards our excellent reputation for providing respected assurance work within a local government environment.

To be considered at Senior Auditor level you should have previous experience in a modern internal audit function preferably in the public sector. You will already possess a relevant professional qualification (CCAB or IIA) or will have made good progress towards achieving one. You’ll get the support you need, but you’ll be confident in your ability to pick up new areas. Your would demonstrate a flexible approach and have an ability to work under pressure, on your own initiative with minimum supervision, and juggle conflicting priorities appropriately to meet agreed audit budgets, objectives and deadlines.
